Full job description
The apprentice rotary press operator plays an essential role in the smooth running of printing operations. Reporting to the senior press operator or the production supervisor, this person actively takes part in the preparation, start-up and operation of the rotary press while helping to uphold the company's quality, productivity and safety standards.
Responsibilities
Main responsibilities:
Take part in planning and preparing printing jobs according to the established production schedule.
Analyze and understand production files, customer specifications and work procedures.
Prepare the press, including installing plates, mounting paper rolls and making the adjustments required before start-up.
Ensure the paper is properly fed into the press and that the equipment runs smoothly.
Make the necessary adjustments to achieve optimal print quality, particularly with respect to colours, registration and ink density.
Continuously monitor production quality and quickly make the required corrections when necessary.
Assist stackers and other team members to ensure an efficient production flow.
Work closely with the various departments to meet delivery deadlines and quality standards.
Take part in preventive maintenance operations and in keeping the equipment and work environment clean.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of production processes by suggesting solutions and improvements whenever possible.
Required Qualifications
High school education with a minimum of 2 years of experience in the printing field.
