Assistant Manager,Food Services
Job details
Full job description
You'll keep every breakfast rush, banquet, and in-room dining order at Holiday Inn Niagara Falls running on time — leading the team that turns a guest's first meal of the day into a reason to come back.
Our food and beverage operation covers the hotel restaurant, breakfast service, banquets and meeting rooms, and in-room dining, serving leisure travellers, tour groups, and conference guests. As Assistant Manager, Food Services, you sit between the Food & Beverage Manager and the front-line team: you run shifts, set the standard on the floor, and make sure the kitchen and service teams are working from the same plan.
In your first 6–12 months, success looks like consistently smooth peak services, a team that's trained and scheduled ahead of demand, and food and labour costs that stay in line with budget without cutting corners on the guest experience. If that's the kind of ownership you're ready for, apply today.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily service across the restaurant, breakfast buffet, banquets, and in-room dining, setting the pace and standard for each shift.
- Coach, schedule, and develop food service staff, including servers, hosts, and kitchen support.
- Own shift-level compliance with food safety, hygiene, and responsible alcohol service standards.
- Monitor inventory, par levels, and waste to control food and labour costs.
- Resolve guest concerns on the spot and flag recurring issues to the Food & Beverage Manager.
- Coordinate with kitchen and banquet teams on event timelines, dietary requirements, and last-minute changes.
- Complete opening and closing checklists, cash handling, and daily shift reporting.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of food service experience, including lead or supervisory responsibility.
- Food Handler certification, or willingness to complete it within the first 30 days.
- Availability for a flexible schedule across evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Clear verbal and written English communication, with the composure to keep a team organized during peak service.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Smart Serve certification (Ontario).
- Experience in hotel, banquet, or conference food and beverage operations.
- Comfort with POS, scheduling, or inventory software.
- Post-secondary coursework in hospitality or culinary management.
